Policies and Procedures:

After completion of Driver Education (classroom or online), students can go to the DMV to take the written test for their permit. Apply online at: www.REALID.DMV.CA.GOV. Students must be 15 1/2 to receive their permit.

•  When the permit is issued, please call our office immediately with the students permit number, issue date and expiration date. We will then schedule their validation drive. Please call ASAP to avoid delays in scheduling. THE DRIVING COURSE TAKES 6 MONTHS. This contract expires in 1 year. No refunds.
  
• The student's permit is not valid (legal) until they complete their first validation and gets their permit signed by First Time Driver employee. (or reaches age 17 1/2.)
• AFTER the students first validation lesson, they can drive with anyone over the age of 25 that has a valid California drivers license. The licensed driver must sit where they can take control of the car. 
• Student's MUST ALWAYS carry their original permit when driving (no copies.)
• Students need as much practice as possible between their drive lessons and should strive for at least 3 hours of practice per week.

 Students are required to: 
1. Complete six (6) hours of behind-the-wheel training with a licensed instructor. 
2. Complete fifty (50) hours of practice with a driver over 25 years of age that has a valid California drivers license. Ten (10) of the fifty hours of practice must be night driving.
3. Hold their permit for a minimum of six months (or until they are 18 years old.)

4. Under no circumstances can a student drive alone with only a permit!!!

5. If anyone is more than 10 minutes late the drive will be cancelled and there will be a $60 fee

6. A reinstatement fee of $150 will apply within 1 year of policy expiration.

7. Prices may change at any time without prior notice.

8. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason.

Behind-The-Wheel Training

• For all lessons, students must be picked up and dropped off at the driving school.
•  Our vehicles are equipped with cameras for audio/video recording and GPS for your peace of mind.
  
• IMPORTANT: Call our office the next business day after each lesson to make your next driving appointment. Failure to follow this instruction may delay your scheduling.
• Appointments are scheduled approximately 7-8 weeks apart (four 1 1/2 hour lessons) in order for the student to receive the needed practice. We cannot guarantee that your student will complete their training in the six-month period if there is a delay from the date the permit was issued and the date you called the office and/or you do not follow the scheduling instructions. 
  
• Cancellation Policy:  If you do not cancel at least 24 hours prior to your drive, or you forget original permit or glasses (if required), there will be a $60.00 cancellation fee (cash only)
• OTHER FEES:  
  Duplicate Certificate: $25
